Story 08 / 12 · Elafiti Archipelago
Elafiti Islands Coastal Escape
Dubrovnik’s own archipelago — car-free islands, pine-fringed coves, and a day that asks nothing of you.
Twenty minutes from Dubrovnik’s walls lies a scatter of green islands where cars are banned, time moves by ferry schedule, and the sea is the clearest on this coast. The Elafiti are Dubrovnik’s best-kept open secret — and by private boat, they are entirely yours.
A relaxed full-day private cruise through Dubrovnik’s archipelago
Chapter I
Three islands, no hurry
Koločep, Lopud, Šipan — each island has its own temper. Swim into the blue cave at Koločep while the water is still morning-calm, walk Lopud’s sandy Šunj bay before anyone arrives, and idle through Šipan’s olive groves where Dubrovnik’s nobility built their summer palaces five centuries ago.
Chapter II
The long lunch
On Šipan, a waterfront table waits at a family konoba where the day’s catch is chalked on a board and the olive oil comes from trees you can see. Lunch stretches as long as you let it; the boat leaves when you do. The return route is timed for the late light on Dubrovnik’s walls.
